Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) Bronze Award

It is an accreditation scheme run by Transport for London (TfL) that aims to improve fleet activity including vans, lorries, mini-buses in London, throughout the UK and beyond. It also includes the fitting of cycle-safety equipment and training as one of its components.

Joining FORS helps Border Barriers stand out from the crowd and demonstrate to current and prospective customers that we are an operator working to standards above the legal minimum.

The dangers posed by vehicles in the workplace are numerous, FORS have introduced safe driving courses as well as workshops designed to reduce the number of incidents, enhancing the health and safety culture within Border Barriers.

Accreditation helps to improve safety, reduce environmental impact, fuel emissions and CO 2 levels in today's environmentally conscious economy, which allows us to pass benefits and competitive advantages to our customers.

FORS is also supported by the London Cycling Campaign and Road Peace who in their joint petition on lorries, call for all procurement to be made responsible and for public sector procurement to lead in encouraging best practice and safe haulage. They also call for all lorry drivers to undertake approved safety training and all lorries to be fitted with side guards and blind spot warning systems.

FORS has the backing of the FTA, RHA, DOT and HSE.
